Victoria HerringMetro Arts Expo 2009 Exhibitor

Des Moines native Victoria Herring will be exhibiting her artwork as a participant in the Metro Arts Expo Nov. 7 & 8 at HyVee Hall. Herring has been an active participant in the Expo since 2006 and a member of Metro Arts for nearly 10 years. A professional photographer in her adult life, she has most recently been focusing her photography on images from her travel adventures. As part of JourneyZing, her fine art photography and travel research/planning business, Herring has traveled to some of the world’s finest locations.

Herring started out taking classes at the Des Moines Art Center as a child and continued throughout her life in college and beyond. As a photographer, Haring seeks to capture moments, people and places, which produce vivid, one-of-a-kind images. Herring has been fortunate to travel to many countries and parts of the United States to capture images of people, architecture, patterns, and landscapes.

Herring limits her editing to applying levels [black/white] to some images and some cropping; unless absolutely necessary, that is all she does. It is important for her to present the images as close as possible to what she saw at the time.  She prints all of her images in an archive or she will have the larger images printed professionally.

Herring also practices law as an attorney in civil rights and discrimination law. Part of what she enjoys about the professional is the chance to be creative, and further new views of the law. To learn more about Herring’s law firm visit http://www.herringlaw.com.

Desire to Create

Herring once wanted to be an architect and still finds herself curious and interested in buildings and structures and the patterns they create.  Her desire to create comes from inside.  That doesn’t mean other photographers haven’t influenced her medium or otherwise, but the images she shoots come from her mind and heart. She tries to capture and convey the emotion she felt while viewing the image she saw so she can portray it to others.
